December 3, 1999 Student success stories go global
Joseph Fair, a biological sciences major who graduates this month, has accepted a research position at the French government's world-renowned Pasteur Institute. After a brief training period in Paris, Fair will assume his post at a division center just outside of Yaounde, Cameroon, West Africa. While there, he will conduct research with scientists from Europe and around the world on identifying new strains of HIV. His term of service will last one and a half years, beginning in April 2000. Upon completion of service, Fair plans to attend a graduate program either in the United States or abroad to obtain his doctorate in virology. William Pease of Knoxville, Tennessee, was recently awarded a contemporary art study in Paris for one week in September with the CEMEA (Centres D'Entrainement Aux Methodes D'Education Active). He attended several theater spectacles, art exhibits, and museums. "The trip was amazing. We studied with two female artists who did face painting and art therapy with children in Paris." The program was offered through the French Embassy in New York and the consulates around the United States. Pease was joined by people from Ireland, Greece, Ukraine, Israel, Macedonia, Turkey, Algeria, Morocco, and Uruguay. |
