Black Student Union hosts annual Alumni and Professional gala

The Black Student Union (BSU) will recognize Loyola faculty, staff, alumni, and friends from the surrounding community as well as award merit scholarships to current Loyola students as part of the Alumni and Professional Gala on Friday, November 12, 1999, in the St. Charles Room. The reception begins at 6:30 p.m. and the gala starts at 7 p.m.

The Alumni and Professional Gala is an annual event given by African-Americans for African-Americans who have made outstanding achievements in their fields. Eric Paulsen will host this year's event with guest speaker Sally Ann Roberts, both of WWL-TV's Eyewitness Morning News. The theme this year is "Millennial Celebration: A Look Back While Forging Forward."

Five prestigious awards will be presented at the gala to outstanding graduates and community servants: the Black Student Union Outstanding Achievement Award, the Louis Westerfield Law Alumnus Award, the Dr. Anthony Recasner Outstanding Community Award, the Dr. Norman Roussell Commitment for Excellence Award, and the Norman Francis Distinguished Alumnus Award.

Tickets for the gala are $20 per person, $35 per couple, and $5 for Loyola students with current IDs. Guests may purchase individual tickets or a table of eight for $90. Hors d'oeuvres and drinks will be served. Donations can be made for student scholarships
