National campus voter registration project underway

A provision in the 1998 reauthorization of the Higher Education Act requires all institutions to make a good faith effort to distribute state-provided voter registration forms to all degree and certification students who attend classes on campus. This project is intended to see that every member of the campus community-faculty, staff, students, administrators-is given the opportunity to register to vote.

Beginning September 7, Louisiana Mail Voter Registration applications will be available at the following locations on campus:

Monroe Library, Circulation Desk, first floor
Human Resources Office, Reception Area, Mercy 102
Law School, Student Lounge, third floor
Student Records Office, Marquette 250
Danna Center, Concierge Office and SGA office

The election schedule for Louisiana is:

September 28, 1999deadline to register to vote in primary election
October 23, 1999primary election
October 26, 1999deadline to register to vote in general election
November 20, 1999Louisiana general election
