December 8, 1998 Loyola Institute for Ministry sponsors lecture and workshopThe Loyola Institute for Ministry sponsors a two-part lecture and workshop series on January 29, 1999 featuring Thomas Groome, Ph.D. Groome will present Educating for LifeA Spiritual Vision for Every Teacher and Parent, in a free public lecture at 7 p.m. in the St. Charles Room of the Danna Center. The workshop will be held the following day, January 30, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Audubon Room in the Danna Center. The fees for the workshop are $247 for one graduate credit; $100 for C.E.U. and $70 for non-credit participants. In his lecture, Groome will discuss the work of parents and teachers in Catholic, public, and private schools. He will explore the deep structures of Catholic Christianity and the Humanist tradition of Western culture. He also will look at historical and theological themes in the development of philosophy of Catholic education. A native of Ireland, Groome is a professor at Boston College. He completed his doctoral studies at Columbia University Teachers College and Union Theological Seminary in New York. His book, Christian Religious Education, is the most widely translated book on religious education, and Sharing Faith is considered a classic.
