Fall Commencement ceremonies set

The 1998 fall Baccalaureate Mass and commencement ceremony for undergraduate, graduate, and law degree candidates are scheduled for December 19 and 20.

The Baccalaureate Mass will be held Saturday, December 19, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Most Holy Name of Jesus. Following the Mass, the Loyola University Alumni Association will host a special reception in honor of the candidates. All are invited to join their families and guests at this celebration scheduled to take place in the Danna Center immediately following the Mass.

Commencement will take place Sunday, December 20, at 10 a.m. on the fifth level of the Recreational Sports Complex. University President Bernard P. Knoth, S.J., will preside over the ceremony.

All faculty and administrative staff are invited and encouraged to participate in ceremonies honoring fall graduates. Those in need of academic regalia must place their order in person in the bookstore from now through November 25 in order to receive shipment before commencement.

Faculty and staff participating in the Baccalaureate Mass should assemble in the first floor lobby of Marquette Hall no later than 9:30 a.m. to line up for the processional to the church. Official academic attire is required. Faculty and staff will proceed after the candidates for graduation.

All faculty, staff, and special guests taking part in commencement should meet on the sixth floor of the Sports Complex no later than 9:15 a.m. to robe in official academic attire and assemble in the proper order for the ceremonial procession. University marshals will be on hand to assist with the assembly. The processional lines will begin moving into position at approximately 9:45 a.m. Following the candidates for graduation, the procession of faculty members and administrative staff will be directed to their designated seating area in the front of the auditorium to the right of the stage. The event is scheduled to last approximately one hour.
