October 9, 1998 Administrative Senatenew year, new officersLoyolas Administrative Senate elected new officers for the executive committee during its July 14 meeting. The officers are: Arthur Stern, chair; Charlotte Harris, vice chair; Michele Ray, secretary; Robert Reed, senator-at-large; and Jay Calamia, senator-at-large. This is an exciting year for all of us working at Loyola. With the pending openings of the library and residence hall, we continue to grow in many areas, said Stern, assistant director of publications in the Division of Institutional Advancement. Its my hope that all staff will use this body as a forum throughout this eventful year, and I invite you to contact us to discuss concerns appropriate for senate discussion. The Administrative Senate is an advisory body to the president of the university. The senates function is to assist the university in matters that the senate deems appropriate concerning the general welfare and working conditions of the staff and in matters concerning the entire university. Four representatives serve from each division and are elected from among the full-time professional and administrative staff with at least one year of service to the university. The senators for the 1998 99 academic year are (listed by division): Academic Affairs: Bill Cahill, Kathy Gros, Michele Ray, and Sarah Smith; Financial Affairs: Jay Calamia, Charlotte Harris, Dave Huffman, and Debbie LaMarca; Institutional Advancement: Catherine Comiskey, Dori Orr, Christina South, and Arthur Stern; Student Affairs: Michelle Andrews, Pat Bailey, Robert Reed, and Germayne Turner. Loyola Today will feature administrative senate meeting wrap-ups throughout the academic year. |
