Loyola secures grant for Fortier

Loyola received an American Online (AOL) Foundation Interactive Education Initiative (IEI) grant to bring Internet access into Fortier High School.

Loyola is only one of 54 IEI grant recipients nationwide and was selected from more than 600 proposals and is the only winner in Louisiana. The university will receive $7,500 to implement Project Jumpstart.

Loyola is Fortier’s partner through the Orleans Parish Partnership Program. Project Jumpstart will provide a mobile destination PC/printer/network access station that will serve as a model of how to bring technology to an underprivileged community. The project will train faculty, students, and parents on how to use the computer and access the Internet.

AOL Foundation is America Online’s philanthropic organization. The IEI supports the foundation by helping to put interactive technology at work for kids.
