School of Law and College of Business welcome two dynamic speakers

Even though the new school year has just begun, it’s never too early to begin thinking about graduation and careers after school. To help ease some of the anxiety about finding jobs, the College of Business Administration and the School of Law will feature two successful women offering their expertise in finding and landing the perfect job.

On Saturday, October 3, Lydia Afeman, author of I Wanna Be a Sales Rep, offers career guidance to law and business students. Her presentation is scheduled from 10 - 11:30 a.m. in the Audubon Room of the Danna Center. A native New Orleanian, Afeman is a 1983 graduate of Loyola’s business school. She has 14 years experience as a sales rep with a number of Fortune 500 companies and formed her own company, Sales Careers Seminars. Under this umbrella, she travels the country lecturing to college students on what it takes to land a position in any type of sales.

Following Afeman’s speech, a pizza party will be held in the Audubon Room at 11:30 a.m. The cost of the seminar is $10 and the pizza party is $5. Students may attend the seminar free of charge.

In the afternoon, Kimm Alayne Walton, author of Guerrilla Tactics for Getting the Legal Job of Your Dreams…Regardless of Your Grades, Your School or Your Work Experience, will discuss her book and take questions, from 1 - 3 p.m. in Room 308 of the law school.

Walton developed and marketed the hugely successful “Law in a Flash” legal aid cards which she sold three years ago. Since then, she has taken her Guerrilla Tactics seminar on the road and has met 10,000 law students in more than 100 law school in 42 states. Since December, she has been the National Law Journal’s “Dear Job Goddess” columnist for job search questions.

Following Walton’s presentation, Loyola Law Professor Jim Viator and his band will be featured at a Barbecue Fais Do Do in front of the law school, from 3-6 p.m. The cost of the seminar is $30 and $10 for the Fais Do Do. Students may attend the seminar free of charge.
