Board of Regents endows four professorships

University President Bernard Knoth, S.J., accepts a $160,000 check from members of the Board of Regents at a ceremony held on campus Wednesday, August 19. Loyola was the first college to host the annual ceremony whereby through the Board of Regents’ Support Fund universities are awarded 40 percent of the $100,000 needed to establish a professorship. The money is given after the university has secured the initial 60 percent. With these recent funds, Loyola established four professorships: Francis Doyle/Banc One Endowed Professorship in Finance; William R. and Audry D. Hutchinson Endowed Professorship; James C. Carter, S.J./Banc One Endowed Professorship in Arts and Sciences; and the Honorable Robert L. Livingston/Banc One Endowed Professorship. Representatives from New Orleans universities and colleges also attended the ceremony to receive checks totaling $4.36 million.
