December 1997 Visual arts chair to exhibit work in Paris
Visual arts department chair Mark Grote, who is on sabbatical this semester at Exeter College of Art in Exeter, England, has been extremely busy. Grote has been lecturing throughout England, where he has had the opportunity to speak at several universities, among them the Derby School of Art and Design, Winchester School of Art and Design, Loughborough College of Art and Design, Bath College of Art and Design, Sheffield College of Art and Design, Norwich College of Art and Design, the University of Plymouth, and the College of Art and Design in Exeter. He also has lectured and exhibited his work at the University of Leeds at Bretton Hall in Wakefield, Exeter University, and Kent Institute of Art & Design in Canterbury. Lecturing is only part of the busy professor's schedule. In December, Grote will have an exhibition in Paris at the Gallerie Christian Siret. Upon his return to the United States, he will present exhibitions next spring at Louisiana State University and at Hartwick College in Oneonta in New York. Clearly, Grote's sabbatical has been fruitful in terms of his art work, lectures, and research. Additionally, he has been reviewing curriculum changes at the University of Plymouth with regard to the new educational format introduced by the secretary of education in England and studying the effects of those changes on art instruction at the college level. Carol Leake, Associate Professor of Visual Arts |
