December 1997 Benefactors Tribute, Dorthy Brown reception photosAt the Benefactors Tribute, the most generous supporters of Loyola were recognized. Among those are members of the Society of St. Ignatius, which recognizes individuals, organizations, and foundations with a lifetime giving to Loyola of $100,000 or more.
Pictured at the tribute are (from left) society member Robert J. Rathe, Sr., 'B'49, his wife, Joan, the Hon. Adrian G. Duplantier, L'49, and his wife, Sally. Dorothy H. Brown, professor emerita of English, who taught adult students in Loyola's City College from 1975 until her retirement in 1996, was honored December 8 at a reception announcing the publication of a festschrift, Performance for a Lifetime. The book, edited by City College Professor Barbara C. Ewell and English Professor and Department Chair Mary A. McCay, is subtitled Essays on Women, Religion, and the Renaissance. It features contributions from 20 authors including a number of Loyola faculty.
