Loyola completes successful United Way campaign

Loyola's United Way campaign exceeded its goal of $39,000 by approximately 24 percent, with over $48,500 in donations pledged by the Loyola community. Over 466 faculty and staff members generously contributed during the campaign in October.

"We are very excited to have surpassed our monetary goal again," said Charlie DiGange, associate vice president for institutional advancement who along with College of Business Dean Pat O'Brien co-chaired the campaign. "The United Way is an important organization that continues to serve New Orleans and the surrounding parishes through an expansive network of community service projects and facilities."

Information Technology employee Allen Sparks' name was chosen from the Loyola contributors for the chance to win a new car at the United Way wrap-up party on November 20. Cecelia Bennett's (Loyola Institute for Ministry) name was chosen for the chance to win $500 in gasoline. This special drawing was held for all donors who contributed at or above the community guideline level.

Students also were involved through an SGAsponsored pumpkin-decorating contest, with donations totaling $142. The pumpkins were donated by Roy Zuppardo of Zuppardo's Supermarket.

A special thanks is extended to the Loyola faculty and staff who served as campaign communicators.
