Two members of the Loyola community die

John McCarron, part-time instructor in the Department of Philosophy, died on Sunday, October 5 in Pensacola, Fla., following a lengthy illness with cancer. McCarron was a member of the Loyola faculty since 1986. A native of St. Louis, his family moved to Pensacola when he was 10. McCarron received a bachelor's degree in economics in 1971 and master's degree in philosophy in 1981 from Tulane University. He is survived by three sisters and brothers-in-law. McCarron's funeral was held last Friday in Pensacola.

James Smothers, an 18-year employee and supervisor in Physical Plant, was robbed and killed on Friday, October 10, on his way to a neighborhood grocery store. Funeral arrangements were incomplete at publication time.

Please keep the families of Mr. McCarron and Mr. Smothers in your prayers.
