Loyola University New Orleans Issues Statement on Passing of Ella Brennan, H'17

Today, Loyola University New Orleans issued the following statement on the passing of Ella Brennan, H '17:

"Loyola University New Orleans is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of Ella Brennan, H '17, the matriarch of one the most prominent restaurant families in the United States and in many ways, a matriarch of our city. "Miss Ella" will be greatly missed by the Loyola community. Our hearts go out to her family and all loved ones. We hold them in our prayers.

"Ella Brennan's many achievements and accomplishments earned her the nickname "Queen of Creole Cuisine," and in 2017, Loyola University New Orleans bestowed upon her an honorary doctorate of humane letters, one of the highest honors of the university.

"Ms. Brennan, a longtime friend of Loyola, was honored by the university 'for her fierce dedication to the culture and cuisine of New Orleans and for her commitment to helping shape New Orleans’ present, past, and future while making lasting contributions to her field.' In receiving this award, Ella Brennan became an official and cherished member of the Loyola family, where we live by the motto is "men and women for and with others."
