Loyola press release - July 27, 2017

Loyola University New Orleans online undergraduate nursing program was named this week among the nation’s top nursing programs according to BestDegrees.com. Loyola University New Orleans School of Nursing’s online RN-to-BSN degree program ranked 30th among the best online Bachelor’s in Nursing degree programs for 2017 and received accolades for “offering a robust curriculum grounded in Jesuit values that emphasize patient care.”

“Loyola University New Orleans School of Nursing’s online degree programs provide working nurses an opportunity to advance their careers through continued education, and we are thrilled to once again be named one of the nation’s Top 30 programs,” said Patricia Pearce, interim dean of the College of Graduate and Professional Studies at Loyola. “With a robust education grounded in Jesuit values from Loyola, working nurses can enhance their practice as an RN with a degree that demonstrates their knowledge and ability to provide exceptional patient care. And our newly competitive RN-BSN tuition is just another way Loyola New Orleans is putting nursing education within reach.”

The BestDegrees.com high ranking was based on a review of all colleges and universities in the nation that offer online Bachelor’s in Nursing degree programs, according to the NCES College Navigator database. Rankers reviewed regional, national, and program rankings received from major publications, such as U.S. News and World Report, and selected schools that had received one or more rankings, then listed schools in order of affordability and selected the top 30 most affordable. Most of the programs selected for this list are designed for registered nurses with an active RN license.

Rankers noted that Loyola’s RN to BSN bridge nursing program is 100 percent online and designed for registered nurses who hold an associate’s degree in nursing and wish to advance their careers. The CCNE-accredited curriculum at Loyola covers courses in advanced topics in nursing, introduction to health care delivery systems and policy, issues in professional nursing, nursing leadership and promotion of quality care, nursing research and evidence-based practice, and spirituality in health and illness. A total of 120 credits are required and up to 90 credits may be transferred from an accredited institution.

U.S. News and World Report ranks Loyola as a Top 10 university in the region, as well as a Best Value university. Also, the university’s online graduate nursing programs are ranked No. 39 out of more than 1,200 programs surveyed by U.S. News.
