Loyola University New Orleans Named Among MONEY Magazine’s “Best Colleges for Your Money”

Loyola press release - July 13, 2017

Loyola University New Orleans is one of the nation’s “Best Colleges for Your Money,” according to MONEY Magazine. In developing the ranking, MONEY magazine considered 2,400 U.S. colleges and universities and evaluated them for quality of education, affordability, and outcomes, such as earnings upon graduation, value-added earnings, job skills, socio-economic mobility, and job meaning, then named Loyola New University Orleans among the nation’s 711 top colleges providing the most value.

“College is now the second-largest financial expenditure for many families, exceeded only by the purchase of a home. So it isn’t surprising that parents and students are taking a hard look at the costs and payoffs of any college they consider,” said MONEY Magazine writer Kim Clark. “To help families do that, MONEY has drawn on the research and advice of dozens of the nation’s top experts on education quality, financing, and value to develop a new, uniquely practical analysis of more than 700 of the nation’s best-performing colleges.”

To help families assess, MONEY drew on the research and advice of dozens of the nation’s top experts on education quality, financing, and value to develop a new, uniquely practical analysis of more than 700 of the nation’s best-performing colleges, Clark said. As part of a new methodology, the news outlet, a longtime trusted leader in financial preparedness, also drew on education data, including the federal College Scorecard and the Student Loan Default Risk Index compiled by the U.S. Department of Education and Peterson’s, PayScale.com, MONEY/College Measures calculations.

The goal, the ranker said in a letter to Loyola, was to release “rankings with a fresh and focused approach on what matters most to students and parents: Where will they get the best return on their investment after graduation? Your school was chosen for its high marks.”

“At Loyola University New Orleans, we strive to provide quality, outcomes, access, and affordability while providing our students a transformative education rooted in academic excellence and 500 years of Jesuit values,” said Loyola University New Orleans president, the Rev. Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J. Ph.D. “Being included among MONEY Magazine’s ‘Best Colleges for Your Money’ alongside U.S. News and World Report’s ‘Best Value’ schools shows the world that Loyola University New Orleans is a wonderful place to live, play, work, and learn. Moreover, our students receive a great return on their investment in their education.”
