Loyola University New Orleans Racks Up Seven National Educational Advertising Awards

Loyola press release - March 6, 2017

Loyola’s new branding and advertising wins emphasize diversity, creativity, and a strong sense of social responsibility

Loyola University New Orleans received seven Educational Advertising Awards this month for marketing and promotional materials reflecting the university’s new brand platform. A Gold Award for Loyola’s integrated recruitment campaign “Create Something Meaningful” marks the first time Loyola New Orleans has received a national award for a recruiting campaign. The university celebrates its big win on the university website this week with the words: “All we did was show the real Loyola and they gave us seven national awards.”

Loyola’s new branding and this week’s wins emphasize diversity, creativity, and a strong sense of social responsibility. With themes such as “Seek What Matters to You” and “Want to Impact the World? Think Creatively,” the new materials are aimed at “Gen-Z,” the next cohort of students who will build Loyola’s legacy. The materials were jointly developed by Loyola’s Office of Marketing and Communications and its Enrollment Management arm, under the guidance of Vice President of Marketing and Communications Laura Kurzu.

"As students are seeking the best college fit, it’s really important that the marketing communications materials match the authentic experience,” Kurzu says. “Loyola New Orleans students are bright, creative, entrepreneurial, and want to change the world. We hope that we have reflected that pretty accurately through interesting storytelling and beautiful photography.”

The Educational Advertising Awards is the largest, oldest and most respected educational advertising awards competition in the country. Winners of this year’s competition were announced in the 32nd Annual Educational Advertising Awards, sponsored by Higher Education Marketing Report.

The contest received more than 2,250 entries from more than 1,000 colleges, universities and secondary schools from all 50 states and several foreign countries. Sixteen institutions were recognized by the judges as a “Best of Show” winner. Gold awards were granted to 319 institutions, silver awards were awarded to 224 and bronze awards were awarded to 155 institutions.

Judges for the Educational Advertising Awards consisted of a national panel of higher education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Higher Education Marketing Report.
