Generous gift brings significant renovations to the Wolf Pack’s home court

Loyola press release - July 14, 2016

Loyola University New Orleans basketball court renamed First NBC Court.

Loyola University New Orleans and First NBC Bank today announced a philanthropic partnership which will rename the game court in Loyola’s University Sports Complex. Thanks to a generous gift from First NBC, the facility will receive a significant renovation, including a new floor, new bleachers, and other aesthetic improvements. In recognition of this multi-year gift commitment, First NBC Bank garners naming rights for the court through 2031.

“Student-athletes at Loyola University New Orleans work tirelessly and we are proud to recognize their successes and contribution to our community. Our entire banking team applauds the efforts these young people put forth in the classroom and on the courts,” said First NBC Bank President and CEO Ashton J. Ryan Jr.

“Through the Faith in the Future campaign, generous benefactors such as First NBC continue to make a profound impact on student life, academics and the wonderful environment at Loyola University New Orleans,” said Loyola Vice President of Institutional Advancement Bill Bishop. “Loyola University New Orleans is extremely grateful to First NBC for this generous gift.”

Loyola’s men’s and women’s basketball, volleyball, and competitive cheer and dance teams regularly hold home games and practice in the facility. The Loyola community also utilizes the facility for intramurals and other recreational activities. The court is also a favorite among New Orleans residents, many of whom belong to the University Sports Complex as members.

“We are honored to establish this partnership and look forward to a long and strong relationship with First NBC Bank, as well as many joyous and exciting games here at the beautifully transformed First NBC Court at Loyola,” said Vice President of Student Affairs M.L. “Cissy” Petty. “This generous gift to Loyola is a powerful demonstration of First NBC’s commitment to student life and collegiate athletics in the New Orleans metropolitan area.”

The renovation of the University Sports Complex began in June with the addition of new lighting and aesthetic improvements throughout the facility. Installation of permanent bleachers and a reconfigured game floor will take place in the summer of 2017.

“This gift allows us to transform the University Sports Complex into a facility that greatly benefits the entire Loyola community and enrich student life,” said Loyola Director of Athletics Brett Simpson. “It will enable us to improve our game day experience for our fans, better serve our growing athletic program, and improve the recreational needs of our faculty, staff, students, and alumni who utilize the facility. It is an exciting time to be a part of Wolf Pack athletics.”
