Loyola jazz student to perform on NBC's Saturday Night Live

Loyola announcement - November 4, 2016

Adam DeWalt, a Jazz Studies Senior from Houston, Texas, will perform on Saturday Night Live tomorrow night. DeWalt, a graduate of Houston’s High School for Performing and Visual Arts (HSPVA) recently won the audition held by Solange Knowles to play trumpet with her band. Solange and actor Benedict Cumberbatch are hosting the show at 10:30 p.m. CT on Saturday, Nov. 5, 2016.

Solange, the younger sister of Beyoncé Knowles, has earned widespread critical acclaim for her recent album, A Seat at the Table, which reached No. 1 in the United States and is nominated for a Grammy Award.

Another Loyola trumpet player is featured on the album — alumnus Jamelle Williams, who received a Bachelor of Music Education degree from Loyola in 2002.
