Loyola Writing Institute offers workshop for aspiring young writers

Aspiring writers who are rising 10th, 11th and 12th graders are invited to attend Loyola University New Orleans Writing Institute's summer workshop for young writers to be held June 8-26.

The three-week session will include two workshops: Journeys in Fiction, where students will practice the basic elements of fiction — character, conflict, dialogue, scene and summary — and complete one or more polished short stories; and Poetry at Arm's Length, where students will write, edit and publish poetry that is inspired by the physical world and explore work by some of the successful contemporary poets. The classes are taught by working writers and editors. The workshops will be held Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at in Bobet Hall, Room 341.
