Loyola opens city's only full-service university Starbucks and local favorite Slice Pizzeria

Loyola press release - August 27, 2014

As Loyola University New Orleans students return to campus, they are greeted by new dining options, including New Orleans’ first full-service university-based Starbucks and local favorite Slice Pizzeria. Another campus-based local eatery, La Divina Italian Café, has moved to the Broadway Activities Center on the university’s Broadway campus.

The Starbucks, located in the Danna Student Center on Loyola’s main campus, is only the third fully licensed, university-based Starbucks in the state. Starbucks offers its full line of coffees, teas and blended drinks, including organic, Fair Trade and ethically sourced products. The arrival of Starbucks was accompanied by a remodel of the Danna Student Center coffee lounge, including new flooring, new seating and the addition of a large community table in the lounge.

The arrival of Starbucks is in response to a series of campus-wide surveys conducted last May by Uptown Campus Dining—a partnership among Loyola, Tulane University and Sodexo. Survey respondents overwhelmingly voted for Starbucks as the top choice coffee brand desired—77 percent voted for Starbucks.

Slice Pizzeria opened last week on the ground floor of Carrollton Hall on Loyola’s main campus. Slice is part of the Juan's Flying Burrito family and is locally owned and operated. Slice will serve its flavorful pizza pies, salads and other goodies available at its two other locations in New Orleans.

The campus location for Slice was previously occupied by La Divina Italian Café, which has now moved to the Broadway Activities Center on the Broadway campus. La Divina prides itself on sustainable practices, local sourcing and organic food selections. The eatery serves hot food options as well as gelato, salads and pastries, and is open Monday through Thursday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Fridays from 7 a.m. to 2 p.m.
