Public event series invites deeper reflections on Lent
Loyola press release - March 17, 2014
Loyola University New Orleans’ Jesuit Center presents its 2014 Lenten Series, "The Heart of Ignatian Spirituality: The Spiritual Exercises of Ignatius Loyola," a collection of events in March and April to observe the season of Lent. Aiming to inspire the public and the entire Loyola community—students, faculty, staff and alumni—to share together in the spirit of the season, the series features reflective lectures, concerts and masses such as the Gregorian Chant Laetare Mass Sunday, March 30.
The Rev. Ted Dziak, S.J., vice president for the Office of Mission and Ministry, points to what St. Ignatius Loyola says as inspiration for the series: “Love ought to manifest itself in deeds rather than just words,” Ignatius says at the end of the Spiritual Exercises. “This is just one of the many spiritual gifts we can gain from the Spiritual Exercises as we enter the Lenten season. We encourage our Loyola community to participate in these reflections to foster our Lenten devotions and join hearts and become truly Easter people,” Dziak said.
Co-sponsored by the Alumni Association, each of these free events will take place on Loyola’s main campus. Events include:
