Loyola signing transfer agreements with 5 community colleges

Loyola press release - November 17, 2014

Loyola University New Orleans is expanding opportunities for community college students from three states. Delgado Community College, Houston Community College, Miami Dade College, Pensacola State College and Florida State College at Jacksonville are all in the process of signing articulation agreements with Loyola so their students can complete general education requirements at the community college level then transfer to Loyola to fast-track a four-year degree.

“Loyola is also increasing the value of the transfer merit awards to acknowledge that students have already demonstrated a commitment to pursuing higher education through the completion of the associate degree,” said Roberta Kaskel, vice president of enrollment management. “That means for a good transfer student, we are committed to making earning the bachelor degree an affordable option.”

The new agreements will also yield additional special benefits for the transfer students taking advantage of the new partnerships. For example, students who transfer from these community colleges will receive guaranteed junior status from Loyola and 60 credits earned.

“These articulation agreements underscore Loyola’s commitment to being a truly learning-centered university that, in accordance with Loyola’s new strategic plan, provides maximum opportunities for students from diverse paths to benefit from the Loyola educational experience,” said Marc Manganaro, Ph.D., provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Loyola is also planning an upcoming similar transfer agreement with College of DuPage, located outside of Chicago, Ill.
