Loyola's weekly e-newsletter has a new look

Loyola University New Orleans’ Office of Public Affairs is launching a redesigned Loyola at a Glance newsletter to focus on news with the greatest return. The newsletter helps the Office of Public Affairs strategically focus on news that supports the university’s local and national reputation and promotes news targeting current and prospective students. The redesigned newsletter will be sent simultaneously to faculty, staff, students and the media. The redesign includes key components also seen in various successful internal/external newsletters from colleges and universities around the country, including:

  • the top four stories of the university for the week;
  • a dedicated place for featured events from the university’s calendar;
  • a place to highlight videos, photo galleries or other special content such as communications from the president or featured experts available for media interviews (from Loyola’s Experts Guide);
  • an “In the News” section, which features Loyola’s top mentions in the media to build credibility for Loyola’s positive news being reported in both local and national media outlets;
  • links to the university’s social media channels, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Flickr; and
  • a “submit your news” button to encourage faculty and staff to continue to share newsworthy items.

In order to ensure the Office of Public Affairs is focusing on news that supports major university goals, the Public Affairs staff is consulting with each of the vice presidents to help set the news coverage agenda. If you would also like to pass on major newsworthy items, please continue to send them to publaff@loyno.edu or submit a publicity request from a computer connected to the university's network. Items that are not featured as major university news in Loyola at a Glance for the week can also be promoted by:

  • including an event on the university's calendar by submitting it to the corresponding departmental web content editor to post (to find out your department's web content editor, please contact the webteam);
  • submitting your own memo, event listing or news item to the LoyMail Daily Campus E-mail Digest;
  • submitting faculty, alumni and student successes listings or brief write-ups to the corresponding department web content editor; and
  • submitting your news to share on Facebook, Twitter and more to Loyola's social media content team.
