Founders Fest helps close out Loyola's centennial year

After a year of birthday events, Loyola University New Orleans will punctuate the end of its centennial with a Jazz Fest-style celebration honoring its Founders Day. The Loyola Founders Fest, a free event for the Loyola community, will take place Tuesday, April 16 from 12:15 to 2 p.m. in the Peace Quad featuring a New Orleans-style mini-festival including musical performances and fare featured at this year’s New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival.

The event will showcase four musical acts on two stages and will offer a selection of festival-style food booths, centennial birthday cake and souvenirs. Iggy Stage

12:15-12:35 p.m. Stooges Brass Band

(Performs at Jazz Fest Friday, May 3 on the Jazz and Heritage Stage)

12:55-1:15 p.m. Loyola University Jazz Band directed by John Mahoney, professor of music and coordinator of jazz studies.

(Performs at Jazz Fest Saturday, April 27 in the Zatarain's/WWOZ Tent)

Havoc Stage

12:35-12:55 p.m. Loyola’s own Lyle Henderson and Emmanu-EL

(Performs at Jazz Fest Thursday, May 2 in the Gospel Tent)

1:15-1:35 p.m. John Rankin, guitar and music industry studies instructor

(Performs at Jazz Fest with New Orleans Guitar Quartet, Friday, April 26 on the Lagniappe Stage)
