Montage's September lineup includes woodwind workshop and two free concerts

The Montage Fine and Performing Arts Series at Loyola University New Orleans will feature two performances and a woodwind workshop as part of a series of free music events in September.

On Sept. 15, at 10 a.m., the Loyola Faculty Woodwind Quintet will present a workshop to prepare woodwind students for the upcoming Louisiana All-State Band and Orchestra Audition. Topics will include practicing, breathing techniques, the importance of rhythm, musical phrasing and psychological preparation for auditions. Individual coaching sessions for each instrument will also be offered. The workshop will take place in Room 240 of the Communications/Music Complex. The event is free and open to students of all levels.

In their inaugural concert, the Ignatius Faculty Sax Quartet will present a salute to the legendary Hollywood Sax Quartet on Monday, Sept. 17 at 7:30 p.m. in Roussel Hall. The free concert will feature rare, original HSQ arrangements, plus music by Alfred Desenclos, Kurt Weill, Ástor Piazzolla and Nazareth.

Finally, on Saturday, Sept. 29, Loyola’s major music ensembles will be featured in the Prism concert at 7:30 p.m. in Roussel Hall.
