Alumni land feature spot on television bridal series

Loyola press release - June 23, 2012

Stephanie Hilferty ’07, an alumna from the English department at Loyola University New Orleans, and her husband, Michael Lillis, J.D. ‘10, will be one of three New Orleans couples appearing on the hit television show, “Randy to the Rescue,” airing on TLC on Friday, June 29 at 9 p.m. C.S.T.

As the star of TLC's “Say Yes to the Dress” and “Randy Knows Best,” Randy Fenoli, fashion director at the famous Kleinfeld Bridal Salon, works with nearly 15,000 brides a year. In his new series, “Randy to the Rescue,” Fenoli takes his bridal beauty show on the road, traveling to eight cities across the U.S. to consult with brides, address their wardrobe challenges and make their wedding fantasies come true.

Hilferty learned about the opportunity to appear on the show when she saw an advertisement in December. After a lengthy interview process, including a written application as well as two rounds of casting videos, she and Lillis were selected to be one of the featured couples. While many of the brides have been focused on selecting the perfect wedding dress, Hilferty was actually challenged with finding a dress for her reception.

“Randy showed up with a semi-truck full of dozens of dresses and basically created a pop-up bridal boutique at the Hilton,” Hilferty said. “He definitely has an eye for selecting the best dresses for people’s body types. I tried on three or four dresses, but finally found the perfect ‘party dress’ for my reception.”

Hilferty and Lillis were married in March at Holy Name of Jesus Church, the same place her parents, also Loyola alumni, were married, and where she and her siblings were baptized. Hilferty graduated Summa Cum Laude with a double major in English and psychology. She was an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega sorority and the University Programming Board. Today, she remains active at the university and serves on the board of the Young Alumni Pack.
