Week of events helps seniors celebrate 2012 commencement

Loyola University New Orleans graduates will join their classmates on Saturday, May 12 for commencement ceremonies in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome at 9:45 a.m. Pulitzer Prize-winning author and presidential historian Jon Meacham will address the Class of 2012. Meacham, the executive vice president of Random House Publishing, will also receive an Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters during commencement exercises.
Meacham joins Loyola’s other honorary degree recipients, Connie Jones, legendary jazz musician, and Paul Pastorek ’76, J.D. ’79, former Louisiana superintendent of education and Loyola alumnus.
The College of Law commencement ceremony will take place that same day at 5:45 p.m. Law graduates will hear from Stephen Higginson, J.D., a newly-appointed judge for the U.S. Court of Appeals 5th Circuit and a former Loyola faculty member.
Loyola has a week’s worth of activities planned for seniors, starting with "Mass and Pancakes" on Sunday, May 6 at 9 p.m. in the St. Charles Room. For a list of important dates and events for undergraduates/graduates, law students, as well as faculty and staff, visit the commencement website.
