Women's Resource Center director accepted into leadership institute

Loyola press release - May 14, 2012

Karen Reichard, Ph.D., director of the Women’s Resource Center at Loyola University New Orleans, was recently accepted into the Higher Education Resource Services Leadership Institute at Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania.

The HERS Institute provides an intensive 12-day curriculum in June that prepares women faculty and administrators for institutional leadership roles. The institute focuses on knowledge, skills and perspectives for achieving institutional priorities and maximizing institutional resources. HERS Institute participants work with faculty and alumnae to develop the professional development plans and networks needed for advancing as leaders in higher education administration.

The two-week curriculum at Bryn Mawr will focus on five areas:

  • Understanding the higher education environment.
  • Planning and leading change in the academy.
  • Managing and investing strategic resources.
  • Engaging individual and institutional diversity.
  • Mapping personal leadership development.

Additionally, each participant will prepare in advance an outline of a leadership project that will be worked on at the institute. The aim is for participants to successfully implement their projects once they return to their home campuses.
