College of Business receives membership to prestigious international business consortium
Loyola press release - October 20, 2011
The College of Business at Loyola University New Orleans has recently become a member of the prestigious Consortium for Undergraduate International Business Education. CUIBE is an exclusive association of 23 universities with undergraduate international business programs designed to provide its members an opportunity to compare their programs against other member schools and facilitate sharing of best practices in international business education.
"Membership in CUIBE recognizes that Loyola University New Orleans has demonstrated a strong commitment to undergraduate international business education through development of exceptional academic programs,” said CUIBE President Mark Ballam. “We are confident that Loyola University New Orleans will enhance the reputation of CUIBE and further the continued success of the consortium."
The offer of membership came after a rigorous, eight-month application process, capped by a personal, on-campus inspection by CUIBE’s visiting committee in order to evaluate Loyola’s international business programs and initiatives.
“Loyola’s acceptance into CUIBE is significant because it acknowledges the high standards of our international business program. The other programs in CUIBE are very impressive and we are delighted to be included,” said Loyola President Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D.
The U.S. News and World Report’s 2012 ranking of the best schools for international business included eight CUIBE members, led by top-ranked University of South Carolina.
Jack Krug, Ph.D., the Jack and Vada Reynolds Chair in International Business in the College of Business, led the effort for inclusion into CUIBE and says membership in the consortium is invaluable.
"It's a tremendous honor to be among only 23 universities that meet CUIBE's strict requirements for membership," Krug said. “Loyola’s membership in CUIBE gives us the opportunity to network, share best practices, and benchmark our existing programs with other universities with outstanding international business programs. It will also allow us to improve our existing programs in international business, offer our students new opportunities in foreign exchange and study abroad, and enhance Loyola's reputation nationwide.”
