Arts opportunities abound for adults, kids this summer at Loyola

This summer, the College of Music and Fine Arts at Loyola University New Orleans will have several opportunities for the young and young at heart to participate in engaging activities in the arts.
From July 12– 23, the Department of Visual Arts will sponsor KidsArt 2010. KidsArt is an art history-based program that provides hands on experiences in painting, drawing, printmaking, ceramics and sculpture. This year’s program is offered to children ages 7 (finished first grade) to 14. Tuition is $350 and requires a $50 non-refundable application fee.
The College of Music will offer the Loyola Jazz Summer Camp. The camp runs from June 4–8 and is offered to non-beginners who have completed grades 7 through 12 and who play brass, woodwind or string instruments, piano, bass, guitar or drums. The camp will feature a closing concert on Saturday, June 26, at 1 p.m. in Nunemaker Auditorium. Tuition is $150 and room and board is available for those ages 14 and older. A deposit of $50 is required.

The Loyola Preparatory Music Program has several exciting opportunities that will go on this summer including an adult beginner piano class, private voice and piano lessons for all ages, and Kindermusik sessions for children ages 2-4. As a special offer for Loyola faculty and staff, the prep program will also offer a sampler package of eight piano lessons at a reduced rate. The Loyola Ballet program will offer a tango workshop that runs June 28 – July 2. The workshop is $100 and is open to those interested in learning tango.
