Canned food drive collects more than 2,000 cans for the needy
Loyola press release - December 8, 2010
Uptown Campus Dining, a dining partnership between Loyola University New Orleans and Tulane University, collected more than 2,280 cans for Second Harvest Food Bank of Greater New Orleans and Acadiana as a part of Sodexo’s annual Helping Hands Across America canned food drive.
The drive sparked a friendly competition among Loyola’s residence halls. The winning hall, Carrollton Residence Hall, will receive a pizza party for having the most student donations, 150 cans. Students were able to make contributions at dining locations around campus from Nov. 1 through 19.
“Sodexo would like to congratulate everyone for participating in this charitable event,” said Katie Crow, Sodexo/Uptown Campus Dining Communication Specialist.
Helping Hands Across America is a nationwide canned goods drive that pairs schools with local charities in an effort to provide for their community. The food drive is a company-wide initiative sponsored by Sodexo, Loyola’s dining services provider.
