Students and alumni prowl to serve others on day of service

Loyola press release - November 1, 2010

Loyola University New Orleans students and alumni will join together to renew their Jesuit commitment to service during the 11th annual Wolves on the Prowl national day of service on Saturday, Nov. 6.

Wolves on the Prowl is planned and led by Loyola’s Alumni Association and Student Government Association, which pairs volunteers from the Loyola community with programs throughout the country that need help. Last year, more than 500 alumni and students participated, including alumni from 13 cities across the nation. This year, 18 alumni chapter cities will take part.

In New Orleans, Loyola students and alumni will participate in Good Shepherd School field day, beautify the Odyssey House and St. John Community Center, and plant trees with Parkway Partners. Local participants will meet in the St. Charles Room, located in the Danna Student Center, at 8 a.m. and will return to campus at 1 p.m. Following Wolves on the Prowl, all participants are invited to an after party beginning at 1:30 p.m. at the fly.

Alumni across the nation will assist in restoring and maintaining Chastain Memorial Park Conservancy in Atlanta, sort food for the Greater Chicago Food Depository in Chicago, walk in the American Diabetes Association's Step Out event in Orlando, Fla., and clean up the interior and exterior of Loyola Catholic School in Denver. Alumni from Acadiana, La.; Baton Rouge, La.; Boston, Mass.; Dallas, Tx.; Houston, Tx., Las Vegas, Nev.; Mississippi gulf coast; New York, N.Y.; Raleigh, N.C.; San Diego, Calif.; St. Louis, Mo.; Tampa, Fla.; Washington, D.C. will also participate in the day of service.

"Wolves on the Prowl is a great way for Loyola to come together and serve our greater New Orleans community. It is the perfect way to put into action our Jesuit values as well as bring our community closer together," said Kate Gremillion, mass communication junior.
