Loyola composer's music featured in Covington concert Saturday

The songs, chamber music and choral music of William Horne, composer and professor of music at Loyola University New Orleans, will be showcased in a concert at Christ Episcopal Church, located in Covington, La. The concert will feature the Loyola Faculty Chamber Ensemble and other guest artists from New York City.
The concert takes place Saturday, Nov. 7, at 7 p.m., at Christ Episcopal Church, 120 South New Hampshire St., in Covington. The event is free and open to the public.
Performed selections include selections from Horne’s “Psalm in April,” “Songs for Ellen” and “Five Shakespeare Songs.” Also performed will be Horne’s “Seascape”, Sonata for Viola and Piano, “Psalm 139” and Trio for Violin, Viola and Cello.
“It is both gratifying and humbling to me that my friends at Christ Church in Covington would organize a concert of my works,” said Horne. “It will be a joy to me to hear my songs and instrumental music presented by such distinguished artists.”
Guest artists featured include alto Virginia Warnken and baritone Charles Wesley Evans, from the choir of Trinity Wall Street, located in New York City. Other guests include violinist John Pickford Richards and pianist Amir Khosrowpour assisted by the choir of Christ Episcopal Church, directed by Carolyn Parmenter.
Also performing will be the Loyola Faculty Chamber Ensemble which includes Loyola College of Music faculty members Amy Thiaville, violin; Bruce Owen, viola; Allen Nisbet, cello and LPO violinist Elizabeth Overweg.
