Loyola alumnus wins Emmy

Loyola University School of Mass Communication alumnus and WWL-TV Executive Producer Dominic Massa, A’98, was awarded a Suncoast Regional Emmy Award on Dec. 6 in Miami, Fla. Massa won in the category of nostalgia program for “Celebrating 50 Years: The Story Behind the Spirit,” which chronicled WWL-TV’s 50th anniversary.
Massa was also nominated for a second Emmy, for a companion program, “Celebrating 50 Years: 50 Memorable Moments,” a two-hour retrospective of 50 memorable news stories and events covered by WWL-TV’s news team since the station signed on the air in 1957.
Two other Loyola Mass Communication graduates were also nominated for Emmy awards. WVUE-TV anchor/reporter Kim Holden was nominated in the continuing coverage category, and Cox Communications producer Janel Chaix Evans was nominated in the education/schools program category.
