Jesuitís McChesney to Play for Loyola Baseball

Former Jesuit High standout David McChesney has signed to play baseball for Loyola it was announced today by Coach Gerald Cassard.
McChesney spent last season at McNeese State University and appeared in seven games, starting three for the Cowboys before an injury ended his season. He spent the 2006 and 2007 seasons at Delgado. In 2007, the Dolphins were the NJCAA South Central District Champions and appeared in the Junior College World Series in Grand Junction, Colorado. In 2007, McChesney hit .351 for Delgado.
McChesney, an outfielder, also played for two seasons for the New Orleans Boosters, who qualified for the AAABA Tournament in Johnstown, Pennsylvania in the summer of 2006 and 2007.
A three year letter winner at Jesuit, McChesney was a first team All-State selection in 2005. That same year, he appeared on the All-District, All-Metro New Orleans, All-Legion, and the Clarion Herald Elite Baseball Team lists. During the 2005 prep season, McChesney hit .398 with 40 RBI and 44 runs scored.
A cum laude graduate at Jesuit, McChesney was on the Dean’s List in each of his three semesters at Delgado. At McNeese, he was named to the Southland Conference Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll.
“We’re thrilled to have David McChesney join our program,” said Cassard. “He is a solid student and great player that we want to build our team around. He has an opportunity to hit in the middle of our lineup. Coming from Jesuit and Delgado, he has been in two winning programs. We feel he’ll make an immediate impact.”
