Loyola press release - July 28, 2008

After a successful one-year assignment as interim dean of Loyola University New Orleans’ Admissions and Enrollment Management, Lori A. Zawistowski has been promoted to dean of admissions, effective August 1.

As dean of admissions, Zawistowski will oversee the day-to-day operations of the admissions team. She will continue to represent Loyola in national markets and will train, mentor and manage admission staff. Zawistowski will also participate in marketing, work collaboratively with the vice president of enrollment management, Sal Liberto, on crafting unit policies and strategy, and liaise with faculty and other university stakeholders to forge partnerships that advance enrollment goals of the university.

“Lori has impressed all of us with her professionalism, her commitment, and her talent,” said Liberto. “She is a proven leader and a major reason for this year’s significant growth in applications and new student enrollments.”

Zawistowski joined Loyola in 2000 as the associate director of admissions. She was promoted to senior associate director in August 2002 and then, director, in 2003. Zawistowski has served as a faculty member for the Southern Association of College Admission Counseling’s Dry Run Workshop and was a former co-chair of the SACAC Mentorship Program. She is currently a SACAC Delegate serving on its board of directors. She has been a faculty member with the Admissions Middle Management Institute of the National Association of College Admission Counseling since 2003 and she was recently selected as co-director of the program. Zawistowski also serves as a member of the Spring Hill College Business Advisory Board and has been reading for ETS Scholarship and Recognition Programs since 2003.

Prior to joining Loyola, Zawistowski worked at Spring Hill College as an admissions counselor, later being promoted to assistant director and associate director. Zawistowski holds a bachelor’s degree in international business with a minor in economics from Spring Hill College in Mobile, Ala. She also has earned a master’s in business administration from the University of South Alabama in Mobile.
