Loyola announces Rev. Ted Dziak, S.J., as the new vice president for mission and ministry

The Rev. Ted Dziak, S.J., has been selected as the new vice president for Loyola University New Orleans’ Office of Mission and Ministry. Dziak will continue to serve as the director of Loyola’s Jesuit Center.

Dziak came to Loyola in 2006 to serve as director of the Jesuit Center. Prior to that, he spent eight years working in the Caribbean where he was the director of the Jesuit Retreat Centre at Trinidad Farm. During that time, he also served as president of St. George's College in Kingston, Jamaica.

Previously, Dziak has worked at Boston College where he served as a chaplain in university ministry, assistant to the president, and director of the Boston College Neighborhood Center, an outreach program he established in Boston. He was also involved in retreat and immersion programs for students and faculty.

In 1983, Dziak founded the Jesuit International Volunteers (now JVI) and served as the organization's executive director for seven years. Located at Georgetown University, the JVI is a volunteer service agency that places recent university graduates in developing countries of the world.

Dziak earned a bachelor of arts in English from Michigan State University, a master of arts in teaching from the University of Illinois, and master’s degrees in theology and divinity from Weston School of Theology in Cambridge, Mass.

Dziak is a member of the New England Province of the Society of Jesus.
