Loyola vice president of student affairs reiterates university policy on hazing

Loyola press release - May 8, 2008

Loyola University New Orleans is committed to a safe and healthy campus for students, faculty, staff and visitors. Our university family is dedicated to supporting an environment that encourages respect for the dignity and rights of the entire university community. Hazing will not be tolerated in any way. Immediate and severe action will be taken against any student or organization found in violation of this policy.

Loyola University takes a proactive role to prevent hazing within Greek fraternities and sororities through educational awareness, support for positive member development programs, and strict judicial sanctions for policy infractions. We provide education by including anti-hazing sessions for new fraternity and sorority members. All new members and new member educators must sign an anti-hazing contract when new members sign their bid cards. The university provides anti-hazing education for all Greek officers and advisors. Each fraternity and sorority is required to turn in a complete new member program schedule to the Office of Co-Curricular Programs each semester. The Division of Student Affairs at Loyola University is committed to promoting a positive new member experience, and the development of future student leaders in the Greek community.
