University Ministry announces 15 free spots for Summer Ignatian Retreat
Loyola press release - June 6, 2007
This retreat is based on the spiritual exercises of St. Ignatius Loyola. Participants will participate in modified silence, (some quiet time, but not complete silence), and there will be presentations on Ignatian spirituality. Participants can pray, reflect, rest, walk, write, read, share with others, or use the time however they feel called. Ignatian spirituality is known for being adaptable to many cultures and faiths.
A retreat of this nature, however, would presume some comfort level with Christo-centric language and Christian images, even if the participant is not actively practicing any particular Christian faith.
The retreat will be held at Carmelite Spirituality Center in Lacombe, LA, one hour away from Loyola. Participants will need to provide their own transportation. Plan to leave Friday, June 22 about 4 p.m. and return Sunday, June 24 about 3 p.m. The retreat is open for spouses, parents, siblings, friends, etc. who are interested in participating fully in the silence of the retreat. The retreat is free for the first 15 participants to sign up. Meals are included. Participants will have a private room, unless they prefer to share with a roommate.
