International Student Association Scholarship Banquet Tonight
Loyola announcement - April 17, 2007
International Student Association Scholarship BanquetThe International Student Association and the Center for International Education would like to invite you to the 6th Annual International Student Scholarship Banquet on Wednesday, April 18 from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the St. Charles Room. This benefit is part of our on-going campaign to raise funds for the International Student Association Scholarship. This year’s banquet will showcase the ties between New Orleans and the Caribbean, featuring a variety of Caribbean foods and the music of “Taino.” Taino is a local Latin-Jazz band formed by Michael Skinkus, who is a professional percussionist and researcher of African Diasporic drumming traditions. We are honored to have Winston Connolly (Class of 1995) from the Cayman Islands as the keynote speaker. In 2005, Connolly, along with other Loyola alumni, raised over $2000.00 for Loyola students affected by Hurricane Katrina. Currently, Connolly works as an Attorney at Law at Walkers in the Cayman Islands. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for a silent action. Guests will have an opportunity to bid on beautiful international crafts from all over the world. All proceeds will benefit the International Student Scholarship Fund developed to help international students who may need additional financial assistance once they enroll at Loyola. We are very proud to announce that we have raised enough money to award one scholarship of $1000.00 and the recipient of the Scholarship will be announced at the Banquet. This year’s International Student Scholarship Banquet is a wonderful opportunity to support a great cause and to spend an enjoyable evening. Tickets are $20.00 or $140.00 for a table of 8.
