(New Orleans)—The United States Coast Guard Band will visit Loyola University New Orleans as part of its National Tour on Tuesday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., in Louis J. Roussel Performance Hall. This special performance will feature well known soprano and Covington, LA, native Elizabeth Futral, and the Commandant of the Coast Guard, ADM Thad Allen. Admiral Allen was the District Commander of the Coast Guard in the Eighth District of New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, and will be introduced during the concert.

Organized in March of 1925, The United States Coast Guard Band is one of our nation’s premier service bands as the musical representative of the United States Coast Guard and the Department of Homeland Security. The band has toured throughout the United States, and has performed in the former Soviet Union, Canada, and England.

The concert will feature works inspired by the spirit of New Orleans, including a set featuring the United States Coast Guard Dixieland Jazz Band, which serves as ambassadors for the classical jazz, blues, and rags to audiences across America.
