Moot Court Criminal Trial Ad team wins National Trial Competition

(New Orleans)—Loyola University New Orleans’ College of Law Moot Court Program sent out nine teams to compete in National and International Moot Court Competitions during the 2006-2007 school year. Seven of the nine teams advanced in competitions. The National Criminal Trial Ad team who won the American Bar Association's National Criminal Trial Competition this past weekend, March 29-31, 2007, in Chicago. The National Team beat the defending National Champions from Temple University to win the competition.

Team members include Stephanie Cheralla, prosecution; Leslie Dalton, prosecution; Tania Nelson, defense; Justin Reese, Defense; Lindsay Meador, head coach. Both sides of the team, Prosecution and Defense, went undefeated at competition. Also, Stephanie Cheralla received a perfect score for her performance in the semifinal round against the University of Washington, the National Champions in 2005.

57th Annual National Competition in New York

  1. Southern Regional Champions; Advanced to National competition in New York
  2. Finished in the top 16 teams in the Nation (130 teams competed)
  3. Team Members – Eboni Williams; Barrett Stephens; Victoria White; Coach: Michelle Anderson

25th Annual International Information Technology and Privacy Law Competition at John Marshall Law School in Chicago

  1. Placed 2nd overall (28 teams Internationally)
  2. Runner-up best respondent brief
  3. Susannah Barr – 4th best oralist overall (56 oralists)
  4. Team Members – Susannah Barr, Joey LaHatte, Katy Kennedy; Coach: Rachael Patton Catalanotto

17th Annual National First Amendment Competition at the First Amendment Center and Vanderbilt Law School in Nashville

  1. Placed 2nd overall (38 team competed)
  2. Team Members – Laura Cocus, Katie Francioni; Coach: Rachael P. Catalanotto

National Thurgood Marshal Federal Bar Competition in Washington, D.C.

  1. Placed 3rd Overall (16 teams competed)
  2. Team Members- Sarah Roy, Andrew Davies; Coach: Michelle Anderson

The Bankruptcy Team placed in the “Great 8” of 47 teams and Brooke Crocker was named an Outstanding Oralist. A full list of accomplishments is provided below.
