Loyola President invites community to Lenten meditations on ôThe Last Seven Words of Christö

(New Orleans)Ś The Reverend Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., President of Loyola University New Orleans, announces Lenten meditations on, ôThe Last Seven Words of Christ,ö presented by the Reverend Dr. Jan Lambrecht, S.J. These meditations will take place in the Ignatian Chapel in Bobet Hall from 3:45 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday and Thursday afternoons, February 27, March 1, 6, 8. These events are free and open to the public.

Jan Lambrecht, S. J., has published several books in English, the subjects of which include, the parables of Jesus, the Sermon on the Mount, justification by faith, and other Pauline questions. In 1999, he published the commentary Second Corinthians. Most of his research articles have been brought together and published in four volumes, the last one in 2003, under the title Understanding What Ones Reads: New Testament Essays. The Rev. Lambrecht has taught at the Catholic University of Leuven in Belgium, the Pontifical Institute of Rome, and St. John Vianney Seminary in Pretoria, South Africa. For ten years he was a member of the Pontifical Biblical Commission. The Rev. Lambrecht was born in Belgium in 1926. He entered the Society of Jesus in 1945. After his philosophical and theological studies, he earned a doctorate in Sacred Scripture at the Pontifical Biblical Institute of Rome.
