Loyola sponsors "Road to Recovery" television show
Loyola press release - December 11, 2007
(New Orleans)—On Monday, November 12, the Rev. Kevin Wm. Wildes, S.J., Ph.D., and Loyola University New Orleans kicked off a 12-month sponsorship of WLAE-TV’s “A Greater New Orleans: Road to Recovery,” hosted by Tom Bagwill. Wildes launched the university's sponsorship and discussed topics such as Inspector General Robert Cerasoli, Loyola’s overall mission, enrollment, and application deadlines.
WLAE created “A Greater New Orleans: Road to Recovery” less than two months after Hurricane Katrina in an effort to keep viewers informed about the area’s rebuilding and recovery efforts.
Loyola’s sponsorship of the show will include six on-air interviews with Loyola University faculty and staff which will showcase the Loyola community and what Loyola has contributed to the rebuilding of New Orleans. Loyola University has consistently supported organizations that reach out to the community through education programs. Building on Loyola’s historic ties to New Orleans, the sponsorship will also demonstrate Loyola’s standing as the center of Jesuit higher education in the city and the South, and aid in developing stronger ties between the university and the city and the region.
Guests of the program have included members of Congress, mayors and other elected officials, emergency planners, business owners, university presidents, members of the national and local news media, and celebrities.
WLAE broadcasts locally on Ch. 32, and Ch. 14 on Cox Cable.
