Argentinean dramatic comedy movie screening at Loyola

(New Orleans)ŚLoyola University New Orleans and Casa Argentina is pleased to present a screening of Waiting for the Messiah (Esperando al mesÝas) on Thursday, December 6, at 7:30 p.m. The Department of Classical and Modern Languages and Cultures and the Film Buffs Institute at Loyola University New Orleans are collaborating with Casa Argentina to present monthly screenings of Argentinean films at Loyola. The film will be shown in Bobet Hall, Room 332. This event is free and open to the public.

In Waiting for the Messiah, two men deal with their own set of problems in the Jewish community of Buenos Aires. Santamaria (Enrique Pineyro) is let go from his position at a bank when the stock market crashes, causing his wife to leave him. At the same time, Ariel (Daniel Hendler) is struggling to maintain a balance between his dreams and the life his family and religious faith have planned for him.

Casa Argentina of New Orleans is a non-profit organization with the mission of preserving and sharing the Argentinean culture in New Orleans, as well as collaborating with local and Latin American institutions and helping people when the circumstances call for it. Past activities include movie screenings, picnics and demonstrations of tango and folklore. The organization regularly collaborates with local universities and associations.
