Nationally recognized “Theology of the Body” expert to speak at Loyola

Christopher West to speak at Loyola

(New Orleans)— Nationally recognized author and teacher of Pope John Paul II’s Theology of the Body, Christopher West, will speak at Loyola University New Orleans on Friday, October 26, from 7 to 9 p.m., in Roussel Hall, in the Communication/Music Complex. Theology of the Body is the title that John Paul II gave to the first major teaching project of his pontificate.

West will present a lecture entitled “The Love That Satisfies.” The event is co-sponsored by the Family Life Apostolate, Archdiocese of New Orleans; COMPASS of Loyola University; Loyola Life; and Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) and Young Adult Ministry, Archdiocese of New Orleans. The presentation is free and open to the public.

West is a research fellow and faculty member of the Theology of the Body Institute in Pennsylvania. He is also one of the most sought after speakers in the church today, having delivered more than 1000 public lectures on 4 continents, in 9 countries, and in more than 150 American cities. All three of his books, Good News About Sex & Marriage, Theology of the Body Explained, and Theology of the Body for Beginners, have become Catholic best sellers.

West has also taught graduate and undergraduate courses at St. John Vianney Seminary in Denver, the John Paul II Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and Creighton University’s Institute for Priestly Formation in Omaha. He has spoken on national radio and been on television programs such as “Scarborough Country,” “Fox and Friends,” and “At Large with Geraldo Rivera.”
