Cynthia Heimel Comedy A Girl’s Guide to Chaos opens 2006-2007 Theatre Season

Loyola press release - September 14, 2006

(New Orleans, LA)--Unleashing of sassy wit and biting humor on the light of the postmodern feminist is A Girl’s Guide to Chaos by Cynthia Heimel. A Girl's Guide to Chaos, directed by C. Patrick Gendusa, is a loosely knit dramatization of Ms. Heimel's observations, which have appeared regularly in The Village Voice and Playboy and been collected in two books. Ms. Heimel is a delightful neo-feminist who views men not as the problem, but as part of the solution. She is a humorist best known for the hilarious, the immortal Sex Tips for Girls. She has taken material from that book and put it into the mouths of three characters: Cynthia and her friends Cleo and Rita. These women are young, educated, single, and post-feminist. They are simultaneously hyperromantic and hypersophisticated, struggling to reconcile ''liberated'' values with conservative political and sexual tides.

The New York Times says “Like Dorothy Parker, Ms. Heimel is an urban romantic with scathing X-ray vision that penetrates her most deeply cherished fantasies.”

USA Today refers to Heimel as “your best friend, Jewish mother, and analyst, with a better sense of humor than all three combined”.

Come explore the ins and outs of the male-female relationship from the woman’s perspective. If you like Sex in the City, you’ll love A Girl’s Guide to Chaos.

A Girl’s Guide to Chaos will run in the Lower Depths Theatre at Loyola University, 6363 St. Charles Avenue, on October 6,7,12,13,14 at 8 p.m. and October 8 at 2 p.m.
