Loyola's Plaisance Selected as USA Basketball Trials Court Coach

The coaching staff selections were made by the USA Basketball Women’s Collegiate Committee, which is chaired by Sue Donohoe, the NCAA’s vice president of Division I women’s basketball.
Trials for the USA U20 Championship Team were scheduled for May 18-21 at the U.S. Olympic Training Center in
Hurricane Katrina shortened Loyola’s 2005-06 season to just 12 games, but Plaisance and her squad finished the season 8-4, losing in the Gulf Coast Athletic Conference Tournament semifinals.

The 2004-05 season was the strongest in Loyola history, as the team collected 21 wins to tie the school record for wins in a season. The Wolfpack appeared in the NAIA National Championship Tournament for the first time in school history. In 2003-04, the 21-11 Wolfpack finished second in the GCAC Tournament and third in the regular season conference standings.
Between college coaching positions Plaisance coached seven seasons (1988-89 through 1994-95) at St. Martin’s Episcopal High School in Metairie, La., and for two New Orleans AAU teams, the Southern Belles (1992-2001) and the Dominos (1980-86 and 1988-92). She left
Winning state championships in 1993 and 1994, her squad was a perfect 36-0 in 1993.
She also captured district championships in 1990 and 1994. Plaisance was the Louisiana Coach of the Year in 1994, the Metro and Eastbank Coach of the Year in 1992 and 1993 and a six-time district Coach of the Year.
