Loyola student set to compete in Rose of Tralee International Festival

(New Orleans)--Loyola University New Orleans College of Music senior Dorian Joye from Grand Coteau, Louisiana, has been selected the New Orleans representative to the Rose of Tralee International Festival, to be held August 18 23, 2006, in Tralee, Ireland. The festival has established itself as one of the biggest events in Ireland and attracts thousands of visitors every year from around the world for its celebration of Irish heritage and culture. Comprised of five days of entertainment that includes parades, theatre, and live concerts, the festival culminates in the Rose of Tralee Selection held in front of an audience of two thousand attendees in the The Dome Tralee and broadcast live to over a million viewers. Joye will be among contestants from the United Kingdom, America, Canada, Australia, Dubai, Luxembourg and Ireland competing for the coveted title of Rose of Tralee. Dorian is currently working towards her bachelor of arts in music. She is the 2006-2007 recipient of the Music Parents Scholarship for Music Studies Abroad. The scholarship was established in 2003 by parents of College of Music and is presented each year to an outstanding student in the College of Music who will participate in a study abroad program. Joye will participate in Loyola Irish Studies summer program which is based at Trinity College in Dublin, Ireland.
